The Shepherd’s Crown is the last novel by the late Terry Pratchett.
I had it downloaded to my kindle on the day it came out, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to read it yet. I know why – I grew up reading Terry Pratchett books, and knowing that this is the last one of his I’ll ever read is very sad.
I know I’ll enjoy it. I also know I’ll get to the last page, and it will be incredibly bittersweet. Much like finishing The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan, and later Brandon Sanderson).
When I do get around to reading it, no doubt I’ll write up some sort of review. But for now, I am content to leave it unread on my kindle while I reread everything else he has written first. I’m just not ready to read the last ever Terry Pratchett. The problem with having favourite authors growing up is that they disappear as you get older, and it seems to get harder to find new authors to fill the gaps left behind.
So – suggestions for authors I haven’t tried yet will be very welcome. I’m all up for procrastinating my reading material a bit more before I finally crack open the first page of The Shepherd’s Crown.
